Our Favorite Gulfport Events
The Pink Flamingo Tour of Homes (March 4, 2017)
One of things we love most about this tour is that it’s completely self-paced. There are no pushy tour-guides shuttling you from house to house, so feel free to spend a while exploring and admiring. A typical self-paced tour takes between two and four hours, depending on how much time you spend sightseeing at each home.
And don’t worry! There’s a guidebook to lead you on your way. It will show you the scheduled trolley-stops, and also contains a map showing the participating houses. It even lists special offers from event sponsors!
If that sounds like fun, visit the Pink Flamingo Tour of Homes website and buy your tickets. They cost $20 in advance (up to March 3rd), or $25 on the day of the event.
GeckoFest (Date TBA, but usually late August/early September)
GeckoFest celebrates the end of summer. The festival offers a variety of fun events. Although the official schedule is not up yet, last year’s GeckoFest featured:
- Live music on two stages
- Hundreds of food vendors
- Hundreds of arts and crafts vendors
- Kids’ activities
- Street performances, such as acrobats, magicians, daredevils, dancers, aerialists, escape artists, fire eaters, balloon artists, and costumed characters
It is always an absolute blast! The festival is held on Beach and Shore Boulevards, right in the heart of our beautiful town!
TASCO Field of Screams (Halloween)
For over a decade, visitors have enjoyed this event for over a decade, and it was named the #1 scare in the whole Tampa Bay area in 2015.
Your objective is simple: traverse a dark forest, break out of the spooky village, escape the decontamination tent, flee the safe house, and run to safety.
Well, mix in a bunch of loud noises, bright lights, and quite a few frights, and you are in for a thrilling adventure!
The Field of Screams actually is quite scary, so it may not be suitable for small children. The 2017 version isn’t officially online yet, but tickets in 2016 were $10 in advance and $15 at the gate.
Keep an eye on the TASCO Field of Screams website for updates.
