Pride Month in Gulfport

We are now half way through Pride month and eagerly awaiting the St Petersburg Pride Parade on June 24, 2017. This is the 15th Pride Parade in St Pete and should be nothing short of fabulous like the many years before it. According to the official website:”Imagine 5,000 people swishing and sauntering along Downtown St Pete’s Bayshore Dr in a dazzling array of sequins, beads, leathers and feathers to celebrate the power and beauty of diversity” They are expecting as many as 200,00o people will be watching and participating in the parade. It’s one you don’t want to miss!

There are still rooms available at the Historic Peninsula Inn for those people who have yet to make reservations!

In the spirit of celebrating “the power and beauty of diversity”the Gulfport Library celebrated the victims of Orlando with a Gulfport Remembers Day of Love, Unity & Community which was held on Monday, June 12 at the Gulfport Public Library. “The event commemorated the one-year anniversary of the shooting massacre at Pulse, a popular LGBTQ nightclub in Orlando, on Latin Night during Pride Month, which killed 49 people and wounded 53 more.” Read more in the Gabber our local weekly Gulfport Magazine.
